"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."

—William Arthur Ward

At TD, we believe the world needs more gratitude.

We believe that gratitude is the appreciation of what is meaningful to you. When you express gratitude, you're giving thanks to those who are positively impacting and enriching your life. Gratitude has the power to inspire change, increase reciprocity and foster the idea of community.

Despite this, society has a problem expressing gratitude. Mainly because many people don't realize how much a simple gesture of thanks can mean, according to a 2018 study published in Psychological Science.

To me, gratitude is a simple action – one which everyone can do – to recognize those who do acts of kindness that often go unnoticed. It is the recognition and thanks to those who do important and impactful work without asking for anything in return.

That's why, once again, TD is on a mission to spread more gratitude with customers across Canada.

Today, September 21, is World Gratitude Day. It’s a day that offers us a chance to reflect on what we're most grateful for and reminds us of the impact of expressing gestures of thanks and appreciation. At TD, we have a lot to be grateful for, but at the top of the list are our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve.

As the "Bank that Thanks," TD knows first-hand that spreading gratitude is one of the most enriching experiences there is. In 2014, we launched our #TDThanksYou campaign to express our appreciation to our customers for choosing TD. Since then, the program has evolved to thank our customers who are making a positive impact in their local communities and help support their charitable efforts.

This year, we are recognizing five incredible customers from across Canada all of whom are doing amazing things to give back to their respective communities.

From Calgary, Alberta where Doreen is sharing traditional teachings and advocating for the Indigenous community, to Orillia, Ontario where Tim is addressing food security and volunteering at the local foodbank, all the way to Kirkland, Quebec, where Denise is providing transportation and support to the senior population.

These customers embody the values that we hold dear at TD, and they are who inspire us to strive to Be the Better Bank.

Every day, TD colleagues interact with amazing customers all across our footprint who go above and beyond to do amazing work to help and support their communities. We're proud to count them as our customers.

So, thank you, to our 2023 #TDThanksYou recipients for their efforts in their local communities. And to all our customers, thank you for choosing us, for trusting us, and inspiring us to continually work to Be the Better Bank.

We are eternally grateful for you. #TDThanksYou
